Our Elders

An elder is a pastor who shepherds through protecting, teaching, leading, managing, and caring for the needs of Jesus’ people (1 Timothy 3:1-7; Titus 1: 5-9; 1 Peter 5:1-4).

Josh Jones

Hailing from Texas, Josh began his life in ministry by leading worship at several churches. He went on to help plant August Gate Church. In 2019, they multiplied into two autonomous gatherings. Josh then went on to earn a Masters of Theological Studies from Grimké Seminary in 2022.

Outside of pastoring, Josh enjoys experiencing new things from music to movies to new restaurants that have hit the St. Louis scene. Josh is married to his wife Kim and have two sons, Deacon and Jaxon. 

Aaron Lumpkin

Raised in South Carolina, Aaron first sensed God’s calling to pastoral ministry in his early teen years. After college, Aaron served as a pastoral assistant and pastor at Imago Dei Church in Raleigh, NC. He completed his graduate studies at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, NC. Aaron has served in various church and Christian higher education roles, including as a campus minister, a professor at Grimké Seminary, and Associate Vice President for Spiritual Formation and professor of theology at Missouri Baptist University.

Aaron is married to his high school sweetheart Sara, and they have five children: Isaiah, Jonathan, Samuel, Charlotte, and William.

Matt Bryant

A Saint Louis native, Matt felt the call to pastoral ministry in early 2012. He started serving as a deacon in 2014 at August Gate Church and started his elder candidacy shortly after August Gate and Church of The Redeemer became two autonomous gatherings in 2019. He’s currently pursuing a Master of Theology at Grimké Seminary.

Matt has a deep affection for the city of Saint Louis. He enjoys spending time with his wife, Amanda, reading good theology books, and weight-lifting.
